Baclofen tablets have not been approved for use in children younger than 12 years of age, although this medication is frequently used in younger children. The intrathecal injection is approved for children as young as four years old.

Is Baclofen Used for Other Conditions?

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend baclofen for treating something other than the conditions listed in this article. This is called an "off-label" use. Some off-label baclofen uses may include treating the following conditions:

  • Cerebral palsy (only the intrathecal injection, not the tablet form, is approved for this use)
  • Chronic hiccups
  • Cluster headaches
  • Alcoholism or other addictions
  • Bladder spasms
  • Trigeminal neuralgia
  • Huntington's chorea.
