Products That Interfere With Gilenya

Gilenya Drug Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative reactions that can occur when Gilenya is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

Beta Blockers
Gilenya can cause a dangerously slow heart rate (bradycardia). Because beta blockers can also lower the heart rate, your healthcare provider will need to monitor you more closely if you must take Gilenya with a beta blocker. You may need to stay overnight in a healthcare facility after your first Gilenya dose to make sure your heart rate does not drop too low.

Class Ia or III Arrhythmia Medications
Gilenya can cause a slow heart rate (bradycardia). Having a slow heart rate may increase the risk for a life-threatening irregular heart rhythm known as torsades de pointes (TDP) in people who are taking class Ia or III arrhythmia medications. Because of this risk, you should not take Gilenya if you take one of these medications.

Digoxin
Gilenya can cause a dangerously slow heart rate (bradycardia). Because digoxin can also lower the heart rate, your healthcare provider will need to monitor you more closely if you must take these medications together. You may need to stay overnight in a healthcare facility after your first Gilenya dose to make sure your heart rate does not drop too low.

Immunosuppressants
Combining Gilenya with other immunosuppressants may increase the risk for dangerous infections. Check with your healthcare provider before taking such medications together.
