Ampyra Medication Information

AmpyraTM (dalfampridine) is available only by prescription and is used to help improve walking speed in people with multiple sclerosis (MS). This medication is not appropriate for everyone; your healthcare provider needs complete information on your medical history and what medicines you are taking before prescribing Ampyra.

Although many people do not have any problems while taking this medicine, Ampyra can cause side effects, such as insomnia, dizziness, and headaches. If negative reactions do occur, they tend to be minor and easily treated.

Ampyra comes in the form of extended-release tablets and is typically taken twice daily. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablets, as this will cause the medication to be released too quickly.
