Tecfidera Medication Information

As a type of multiple sclerosis (MS) treatment, TecfideraTM (dimethyl fumarate) is approved to treat relapsing forms of this disease. Although it is not a cure for multiple sclerosis, this medication can help reduce the number of MS attacks, which are periods when symptoms are worse. It is approved for use in adults only.

Tecfidera comes as a capsule that is taken twice daily. The dosage is standard for everyone, regardless of age or weight. Side effects are possible and may include nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal (stomach) pain.

If your healthcare provider recommends treatment with Tecfidera, he or she will need information on your medical history and any other medications, vitamins, or supplements you are using. You should also talk to your healthcare provider if you are pregnant or have any allergies.
