Cancer and Novantrone

Novantrone® (mitoxantrone) is a prescription medicine used to treat multiple sclerosis and certain types of cancer in adults. It comes as a liquid injected into a vein (intravenously, or by IV) by a healthcare provider. When using Novantrone for cancer treatment, this drug is specifically approved to treat:

Novantrone is used in combination with corticosteroid medications to help relieve pain related to advanced hormone-refractory prostate cancer. It is also approved for the initial treatment of ANLL and for use in combination with other ANLL medications.

Novantrone works by damaging DNA, preventing cancer cells from multiplying and dividing correctly.
