Multiple Sclerosis and Novantrone Therapy

When prescribing Novantrone® (mitoxantrone), the specific dosing guidelines will vary, depending on several factors. Some of the factors that may affect your dosage may include your height and weight, the reason you are taking the medicine, and how you respond to it.

When used for multiple sclerosis therapy, Novantrone dosing will largely be based on body surface area, which is usually calculated using your height and weight. The recommended amount is usually 12 mg per m3, given once every three months. You should receive no more than a total of 140 mg per m3 of Novantrone during your entire lifetime, as higher amounts may increase your risk for heart failure.
