BG-12 and Biogen
As a type of treatment for relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS), Tecfidera™ (dimethyl fumarate) can help manage symptoms of attacks. Manufactured by Biogen Idec, Inc., Tecfidera was previously known as BG-12 when it was being developed, and is still sometimes referred to by this name.
Tecfidera capsules are taken twice daily, and must be swallowed whole. There is only one standard dosage for this medication, regardless of age or weight. Side effects may include nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal (stomach) pain.
