Tizanidine and Nursing

Based on the chemical structure of the drug,
tizanidine hydrochloride (Zanaflex®) is predicted to pass through breast milk. However, tizanidine hasn't been studied in nursing women, so researchers can't say for sure that it does pass through breast milk.

Although many healthcare providers don't recommend breastfeeding while taking this medication, every woman's situation is different. If your healthcare provider recommends nursing while taking tizanidine, make sure to watch for any side effects in your child, such as excessive drowsiness.
