Tizanidine Dangers

Although most people tolerate this medication well,
tizanidine hydrochloride (Zanaflex®) is not suitable for everyone. Dangerous side effects have been known to occur in some cases. For example, tizanidine can cause problems such as low blood pressure, paranoia, and liver problems. The drug can also interact with a number of medications and can interfere with your ability to drive or operate heavy machinery.

To help ensure a safe treatment with tizanidine, tell your healthcare provider if you have any allergies or are taking any other medications. Tizanidine may not be the best choice for people with kidney problems, as the kidneys clear the medicine from the body, or for people who already have low blood pressure. In addition, tell your healthcare provider if you are pregnant, thinking of becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding.
