Tysabri Pregnancy Category

Although
Tysabri® (natalizumab) has not been adequately studied in pregnant women, this drug caused miscarriages and blood cell problems in the offspring when it was given to pregnant animals. As a result of these complications, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) classified Tysabri as a pregnancy Category C drug.

A pregnancy Category C medicine, such as Tysabri, should only be given to a pregnant woman if the healthcare provider believes that the benefits to the woman outweigh any possible risks to her unborn child.
