Serious Reactions to Tysabri

Serious Side Effects

Some Tysabri side effects are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
 
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, such as:
 
    • An unexplained rash
    • Hives
    • Itching
    • Swelling of the mouth or throat
    • Wheezing
    • Difficulty breathing
 
  • Intense abdominal (stomach) pain, swelling, or cramps
  • Inability to have a bowel movement
  • Signs of infection, such as:

 

 
  • Reactions during or shortly after receiving a Tysabri infusion, such as:

     

    • Hives
    • Itching
    • Rash
    • Headaches
    • Dizziness
    • Fatigue
    • Chills
    • Fever
    • Nausea and vomiting
    • Sudden redness and warmth of the face, neck, and chest (flushing)
    • Shortness of breath or wheezing
    • Low blood pressure (hypotension)
 
  • Weakness on one side of the body
  • Vision problems
  • Confusion
  • Problems with thinking and memory
  • Signs of liver problems, such as:
 
    • Yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes (jaundice)
    • Dark urine
    • Tiredness or fatigue
    • Pain in the upper-right area of the abdomen (stomach)
    • Nausea and vomiting.
 
Some Tysabri side effects have been reported months after treatment ended. Therefore, be sure to tell your healthcare provider about any potentially serious side effect you develop both during treatment and for several months after you stop using Tysabri.
